Tencent Partners with City of Wuhan to Launch Unmanned Police Station
Sohu, 11/07/17
Chinese internet and mobile services firm Tencent (0700.HK) and the Wuhan Public Security Traffic Management Bureau have partnered to develop China's first unmanned police station, which will be put into use not far into the future.
The unmanned police station is based on the Wuhan Traffic Police smart service platform, which provides online reservations, new vehicle registration checking, lost document replacement, traffic violation checking, and driver's license testing through government service applets. Services that require an offline component will be given to the unmanned police station.
The specific envisioned application of an unmanned police station has citizens entering after a facial recognition scan, processing their requests through self-service smart terminals and interacting with artificial intelligence customer service.
An unmanned police station would be able to provide services 24-7. Requests would be processed within 24 hours after receiving online payment, including arranging express couriers to collect and send documents.
