iFlytek, Chinese Government to Jointly Build AI-based Translation Platforms

Chinese voice recognition software firm iFlytek (002230.SZ) and the China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly promote the application of AI technologies in the field of translation by cooperating in various areas including the sharing of resources, technology and capital.
According to the agreement, the parties will work together to build both a direct AI translation platform and an AI-assisted translation platform (i.e. a human-assisted AI translation platform). The two platforms will be able to provide written and spoken translation services intended for all levels of CCP and government agencies, Chinese companies, related organizations, and the general public. In addition, the two parties will also launch cooperative projects in a variety of related areas including the production of cultural content, copyright export, speech synthesis, speech recognition, and oral language assessments. With these efforts the parties stated their intention to promote the application of AI technologies in an expanded number of fields including big data search, multilingual information collection and editing, and the evaluation of translators.
