Shanghai Leads China with 88.5% 4G Penetration Among Mobile Subs in April 2019

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has released statistics detailing the country's total number of fixed-line telephone subscribers (registered accounts) and mobile subscribers by province as of the end of April 2019. China finished the month with nearly 193 mln fixed-line subs and almost 1.591 bln mobile subs.
Southern China's Guangdong was the province with the greatest number of mobile subs with over 168 mln, or approximately 10.6% of the total, followed by Shandong with just over 107 mln, or roughly 6.7%.
The five provinces with the highest penetration of 4G users among their respective mobile subscriber bases were Shanghai with 88.5%, followed by Guangdong (82.5%), Beijing (81.0%), Fujian (80.1%), and Jiangsu (79.8%). The provinces with the lowest 4G penetration were Xinjiang (23.6%), Heilongjiang (70.4%), Jilin (71.0%), Chongqing (71.1%), and Shandong (71.5%).
