Shanghai Leads China with 90% 4G Penetration Among Mobile Subs in June 2019

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has released statistics detailing the country's total number of fixed-line telephone subscribers (registered accounts) and mobile subscribers by province as of the end of June 2019. China finished the month with over 192 mln fixed-line subs and slightly under 1.586 bln mobile subs.
Southern China's Guangdong was the province with the greatest number of mobile subs at almost 167 mln, or approximately 10.5% of the total, followed by Shandong with 107 mln, or roughly 6.8%, Jiangsu (6.3%), Henan (6.0%), and Sichuan (6.0%).
The five provinces with the highest penetration of 4G users among their respective mobile subscriber bases were Shanghai with 90.2%, followed by Guangdong (84.5%), Beijing (82.3%), Zhejiang (82.0%), and Jiangsu (81.2%). The provinces with the lowest 4G penetration were Xinjiang (26.1%), Heilongjiang (72.5%), Jilin (72.7%), Sichuan (72.7%), and Chongqing (73.0%).
