MIIT: China's Mobile Subscriber Base Up 470,000 in December 2023

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has released its national telecom industry statistics for the month of December 2023, during which China's total number of mobile service subscribers increased by just 470,000 to reach approximately 1.727 bln.

China’s 5G mobile package subscriber base reached approximately 805 mln by the end of December 2023, up approximately 244 mln year-on-year, and representing a 5G penetration rate of 46.6%.
Note: In calculating the figures for change since the end of 2022, the MIIT used data from its 2022 Annual Telecom Statics Report. In calculating the figures for fixed-line telephone and mobile subscriber penetration, the MIIT used China's 2023 year-end national population figure.
