China Unicom Adds 10 Mln 5G Network Customers in Q1 2026

Chinese telecom operator China Unicom (0762.HK; 600050.SH) has reported its Q1 2026 operational statistics, with its aggregate number of "Connectivity" subscribers reaching slightly over 1.290 bln, up 35.39 mln since the end of 2025. China Unicom's "Connectivity" category is comprised of the operator's combined total aggregate mobile billing subscribers, fixed-line telephone subscribers, fixed-line broadband subscribers, Internet-of-things terminal connections, and networking leased line subscribers.
Among China Unicom's total Connectivity subscribers, 242.00 mln were 5G network customers, representing a net increase of 9.82 mln quarter-on-quarter; and 755.14 mln were Internet-of-things terminal connections, representing a net increase of 32.03 mln quarter-on-quarter.
China Unicom also reported that the number of major government and enterprise customers served by Unicom Cloud reached 0.438 mln by the end of Q1 2026, and the number of paying users for Unicom's Cloud-AI products reached 23,520. Government and enterprise customers of Unicom Cloud include industry cloud customers, cloud integration customers, partner public cloud customers, and cloud
market customers. China Unicom's Cloud-AI products include Unicom Cloud Drive, Cloud-AI handsets, Unicom Home Monitoring, and Unicom UHD (Ultra-High-Definition).
Editor's Note: A 5G network customer is defined as a mobile customer who has used the 5G network in the given quarter. Starting from its Q1 2025 operational statistics, China Unicom switched from reporting 5G package customer (i.e. a mobile customer who has simply subscribed to a 5G tariff plan) figures to reporting 5G network customer figures.
