ZTE Devotes 2,000 Staff to 4G Development

Chinese telecom equipment manufacturer ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ) revealed today that it had devoted 2,000 of its R&D staff to FDD-LTE and TD-LTE development. The employees are primarily experienced GSM/CDMA and 3G engineers. TD-LTE development alone will have a dedicated workforce of over 900.
ZTE also said that it would push for FDD-LTE for small-scale commercial use in H2 2009, and TD-LTE for small-scale commercial use in 2010.
