Spreadtrum Reports Q3 2008 Loss of USD 31 mln

Chinese wireless baseband chipset provider Spreadtrum (Nasdaq: SPRD) has announced its financial results for Q3 2008, with total revenues reaching USD 20.0 mln, down 48% year-on-year and 50% quarter-on-quarter.
Net loss for the quarter came to USD 31.3 mln, compared to net income of USD 2.6 mln in Q2 2008, and USD 6.1 mln in Q3 2007.
Baseband revenue in the quarter was USD 18.8 mln, down 45% YoY and 52% QoQ.
The company estimates fourth quarter revenue to be approximately flat or slightly better than the third quarter of 2008.
