CEIEC Reveals Rural Handset Bidding Results

China National Electronics Import and Export Corporation (CEIEC), the bidding agent in the Chinese government's promotion of home appliances and consumer electronics in rural areas, has revealed that 17 companies have won bids for providing handsets through the program in Shandong, Henan, Sichuan, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Heilongjiang, Anhui, Hubei, Hunan, Guangxi, Chongqing and Shaanxi. The bid-winning vendors include: ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ), Tianyu (K-touch), UTStarcom (Nasdaq: UTSI), Samsung, Changhong (600839.SH), Ningbo Bird (600130.SH), Konka (000016.SZ, 200016.SZ), Huawei, Haier, Nokia, HTW, Hisense (600060.SH), LG Electronics, Motorola, TCL Communication Technology (2618.HK), Gionee, and Amoi Electronics (600057.SH).
