China Telecom to Invest RMB 600 Mln to Support Asian Games

At a signing ceremony held on December 9, China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) and the Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee announced that China Telecom has officially become a high-level sponsor of the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, and will supply comprehensive services for the games including fixed-line communications, Internet access and satellite transmission services for TV signals.

China Telecom plans to invest RMB 600 mln to provide a next-generation optical fiber network for the Asian Games Town and for event venues. China Telecom will also invest several hundred million RMB in a "Digital Asian Games" marketing promotion.
