Game Operator Sntaro Lands USD 20 Mln Funding

Sina Games, 5/24/10

Chinese game operator Sntaro hosted an event at the Kunlun Hotel in Beijing recently to celebrate both the status of the new "San Guo" ("Three Kingdoms") television series as ratings leader and the launch of www.3guoonline.com, the official website for "Three Kingdoms Online," a 3D MMORPG developed in-house by Sntaro.

Sntaro chairman Chen Zhilian said that the company had received USD 20 mln in venture capital, and is currently planning a game based on, and named after, the Ming dynasty novel "Shuihu Zhuan" ("Outlaws of the Marsh").

Chen said that as one of the investors in the popular new television series, Sntaro will work on a range of cross-promotions of its game with the series, including advertisements, celebrity spokespeople, and online forum marketing.
