Baidu's YouA E-Commerce Platform to See Changes

Netease Tech, 5/25/10

Cai Hu, GM of Chinese internet company Baidu's (Nasdaq: BIDU) C2C e-commerce platform YouA, recently disclosed that YouA is undergoing strategic transformation, and that both the platform and product structure will see changes, though the site's overall direction will remain the same. Cai said that the changes will satisfy consumer demands regarding user experience, while meeting merchants' promotional needs to make money through the site.

Cai also revealed that YouA is recruiting talent in order to expand. As for the ultimate size of YouA's team, a public relations representative said YouA is also undergoing organizational changes, and that specific personnel requirements would be determined according to the new structure. New products are currently in planning and development stages, and staffing requirements will move in tandem with those projects.

Cai added that Baidu plans to invest in other vertical e-commerce companies.
