Innofidei Sues Siano for Patent Violation

21st Century Business Herald, 7/02/10

Chairman Zhang Hui of Beijing-based CMMB and baseband chipset developer Innofidei has confirmed that the company filed a patent infringement lawsuit in late May against Israeli-based mobile DTV chipmaker Siano Mobile Silicon. The suit was filed with the Beijing No.2 Intermediate People's Court.

Reliable sources within Innofidei said that the suit was mainly targeted at Siano's SMS118X-series of CMMB receiver chips, which infringed on three of Innofidei's patents.

According to industry sources, as of the end of February, Innofidei had shipped approximately 8 mln CMMB chips, and of the 48 TD+CMMB terminals currently available on the market, 35 are powered by Innofidei's chips.
