Chinese Music Site Top100 Wins 2nd Round Funding

Tencent Tech, 7/05/10

Gary Chen, CEO of Beijing-based online music provider Orca Digital, the operator of Top100.cn, has revealed that the site has received nearly USD 1 mln in a second round of funding from Google and Chinese basketball star Yao Ming. Google still remains a small stakeholder in the company.

Chen said that Orca Digital will launch a cloud computing-based music service by the end of this year, and has not ruled out the possibility of launching its own independent music search service.

According to an industry source, aside from this second round of funding from Google and Yao, another company that had previously invested in the mobile internet sector is also in discussions with Orca Digital regarding possible investment.
