Chinese Video Site 6Rooms Achieves Profitability

CEO Liu Yan of Chinese video site 6Rooms has revealed that the site has seen 16 consecutive profitable months since March 2009, with monthly profit ranging in the millions of RMB. The company currently employs 160 staff.

6Rooms' "Showroom" service (v.6.cn) provides a platform for aspiring performers to "open rooms" to show off their talents, while viewers can pay to send virtual items like flowers and beer to admired performers. 6Rooms takes a share of revenue from this service, which currently comprises the largest portion of the company's income.

Liu said that the now-profitable 6Rooms has no need for further funding.
