Huawei Wins China Tietong Internet Backbone Tender

Chinese telecom equipment manufacturer Huawei today announced it had recently been selected by China Tietong (China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) for the fifth stage of its CTTNET national internet backbone project. Huawei will construct supernodes in Shanghai and Wuhan, as well as a number of backbone network nodes nationwide. Details on the project and the bid price were not available.

China Mobile's China Tietong business currently has over 7 mln broadband users, estimated to reach 10 mln in 2010, with internet traffic volume increasing 70%-100% each year.
