TechWeb, 9/19/10

An industry source reported this morning that Chinese internet company Sohu (Nasdaq: SOHU) has begun developing plans to spin off its video service into a listed company. Sohu spokesperson Yu Tao declined having any knowledge of such plans. Yu declined to comment when asked about Sohu Video's development plans.

At the the World Economic Forum's 2010 "Annual Meeting of the New Champions" ("Summer Davos") held in Tianjin, Sohu CEO Charles Zhang said that his company was making preparations around three areas for which it predicts explosive growth: online gaming subsidiary Changyou (Nasdaq: CYOU), Sohu Video, and Sohu's Sogou search engine.
