ZTE Wins 80% of China Telecom Smartphone Order

Chinese telecom equipment maker ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ) released its first RMB 1,000 3G smartphone yesterday: the ZTE N600. Li Xuzhao, ZTE's GM for CDMA mobile phones, said that 80% of the company's development efforts for mobile phones will be shifted to smartphone development. China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) has ordered 300,000 Android-based RMB 1,000 3G smartphones, of which the N600 accounts for 80%, or 240,000 units.
