Sohu Upgrades Sogou Pinyin IME

Sohu IT, 9/21/10

Chinese internet company Sohu (Nasdaq: SOHU) announced the release of version 5.1 of its Sogou Pinyin Chinese-language input method editor (IME) today. The new version of the IME allows for mixed-mode Chinese/English input, allowing users to add English words like "e-mail" or "Facebook" in Chinese sentences without having to switch or suspend input modes.

Version 5.1 of the IME also adds "fuzzy Pinyin" input for users whose native Chinese language is not Mandarin, or who are unfamiliar with Pinyin. The mode compensates for users' nonstandard phonetic realizations when using Romanized input.
