iCafe8 to Facilitate Mobile App Downloads

DoNews, 6/25/12

Hua Yong, chairman of Hangzhou-based Internet café platform operator Shunwang Technology (iCafe8) (300113.SZ), recently told reporters that iCafe8 sees internet cafes becoming a channel providing mobile content, including mobile software and games. In the future, Hua said, gamers will be able to download mobile games to their handsets simply by clicking download buttons on Internet café computers. Hua stressed that iCafe8 would not abandon the openness or neutrality of its platform under the influence of Tencent (0700.HK), its fourth-largest shareholder.

Tencent says that it views internet cafes as of "strategic importance" in promoting mobile applications. Neither Tencent nor iCafe8 would divulge specifics of their plans to use internet cafes to promote mobile applications.
