Apple Delays Release of iFlytek Voice Assistant in App Store
CCTIME, 7/06/12
Chinese software firm Anhui USTC iFlytek (002230.SZ) has announced that Apple has delayed the release of iFlytek's mobile voice assistant application "Xunfei Yu Dian" in the iTunes App Store. Apple has requested that iFlytek upload a demonstration video as part of the approval process, pushing back the process by one month. The app allows users to interact with their iPhone using voice recognition to make calls, send SMS, surf the web, use apps, set alarms, navigate, check railway timetables, find eateries, and check stocks.
iFlytek previously released an Android version, and multiple firms - including Lenovo (0992.HK), Gionee, China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK), Careland, AutoNavi (Nasdaq: AMAP), and Changhong (600839.SH) have partnered with iFlytek to integrate Chinese-language voice recognition into their products.
