Rumor: China Mobile to Begin TD-LTE Terminal Tender

China Mobile's (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) terminal subsidiary China Mobile Terminal has informed manufacturers that it will commence TD-LTE terminal procurement bidding this month, including orders for 3,000 TD-LTE data cards, 6,000 Mi-Fi devices, and 1,000 customer-premises equipment (CPE) devices. China Mobile expects to have deployed over 30,000 TD-LTE base stations by the end of 2012.

MiFi portable Wi-Fi hotspots utilize an internal 4G modem to provide Wi-Fi services to multiple users in the vicinity. CPE provides wider range 4G-based Wi-Fi services for various devices, including tablets, smartphones, and notebooks.
