Rumor: Rural Subsidy Program to Favor Mid-Sized Appliances

Sina Tech, 10/10/12

The Chinese government's "Appliances to the Countryside" rural home appliance subsidy initiative will conclude in January 2013, but relevant divisions of the government are said to be drafting a new round of consumer subsidy policies. The new policies could be introduced before the end of 2012, but will favor subsidies for energy-saving, mid-sized to small appliances, meaning that air conditioners, refrigerators, televisions, and other large appliances may no longer be covered by the subsidies.
