Diandian Founder Invests in Audio-Photo Mobile App

Xu Zhaojun, founder of light-blogging site Diandian, revealed recently that he is also an angel investor in the team behind "Papa," a voice+photo mobile application. Xu also took part in brainstorming for the application's name. When asked about rumors that Diandian is seeking to change business models, Xu said that the site will continue its focus on light blogging, adding that Papa is not a Diandian product.

Released on October 8, Papa is a free mobile voice+photo social application, comparable to Instagram with voice features. The application is available only for the iOS platform at present. Users can log in using their Sina (Nasdaq: SINA) Weibo microblog account credentials, and can record up to 60 seconds of audio to accompany each photograph. Papa also allows users to share photos to their microblog accounts, add filters, and view popular and nearby photographs. The color scheme and font of the app resemble those of Path.
