Beijing-based push message solutions provider Gexin Interactive has revealed on its official website that "Ge Tui," the company's push message service for Android developers, has reached an installed app user base of 200 mln (that is, the number of installed apps using the service). Cumulative apps using the service have reached 3,000 and daily push messages sent out by the service have reached 250 mln. At present, the number of apps installed daily that use the service stands at 1.04 mln.
According to Gexin CEO Fang Yi, the company has set a 2013 year-end app user base goal of 500 mln (as measured by the cumulative number of apps downloaded that use the service) and a handset user base goal of 300 mln (as measured by individual handsets using the service).
The Ge Tui open platform allows app developers to send notifications and other information to user handsets in the form of push messages, while saving up to 90% in Android push notification development costs, and using an average of only 0.8-1.2M of a mobile subscriber's monthly data package, according to the company. Gexin Interactive boasts Sina (Nasdaq: SINA), Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU), and KTV app Chang Ba among its users.
Gexin is currently developing an "information management platform" for release on March 11. The company hopes that the platform will establish an accepted Android push notification standard, as is seen with iOS push notifications. Gexin is also currently working with the China Earthquake Administration to release an earthquake warning app, scheduled for March release.
The Gexin team consists of 85 employees. The company previously received a USD 8-digit first round of funding led by WI Harper and rumored participation of several large Chinese internet companies. The company will reportedly secure a second round of 8-digit USD funding next week.
