China Telecom Launches 'Mix & Match' Mobile Package

China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) has launched a "Jimu Taocan" ("Building Block") nation-wide self-service package, with voice, data, SMS, and 3G apps as its four main "building blocks." Customers can freely combine different amounts of each component based on their individual needs. The minimum package costs RMB 19 per month and includes only 100 minutes of talk time. In order to assist customers to arrange their "building blocks," China Telecom's online service hall has provided supplementary tools that can assist users to calculate their monthly data usage and the data usage of various apps.

Editor's Note: Beijing Telecom has announced that users opting for the "Building Block" package must choose a new number and will need to prepay for the plan at the beginning of each month. China Telecom post-pay customers will not be immediately eligible to use the new packages.
