Aigo Restructures

Sina Tech, 5/04/13

According to recent industry rumor, more than 30 employees in support divisions of Chinese consumer electronics company Beijing Huaqi (Aigo) have received contract termination notices since this March. To date, the layoffs have affected Aigo's auditing, planning, legal, commerce, and HR divisions.

Aigo president Li Yinxiu responded in a recent interview, saying that the reports of layoffs had been a misunderstanding resulting from strategic restructuring efforts underway at the company. Post-restructuring, Li said, Aigo will be divided into three major "centers" — the products center, customer support center, and legal center — as well as supporting systems such as finance and HR offices. Aigo's services will comprise a key accounts division, a channels division, an e-commerce division, and an international business division. According to Li, the goal of the structuring is to boost efficiency and cut down on internal frictions.
