Rumor: Qihoo 360 Requires Employees to Use Line

Sina Tech, 7/03/13

According to a source close to Chinese internet services and security software provider Qihoo 360 (NYSE: QIHU), the company has issued an internal notice requiring all employees to install Japanese-based mobile IM Line. The notice instructs department supervisors to institute regular checks, and forbids the use of any mobile IM app other than Line for discussing work issues. Qihoo 360 declined to comment on the matter.

In late 2012, Line developer NHN Japan announced a partnership with Qihoo 360 to launch Line in China. The two companies will share revenue from game and emoji sticker sales in China.
