Rumor: China Unicom to Release Self-Branded Handset

China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) may be preparing to release to operator's first self-branded handset, the "Wo801," according to information released by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

The handset reportedly operates on an Android 4.1.1 system and features a 4.5" 854x480 display, 1.2GHz single-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 2MP rear-facing camera, and 0.3MP front-facing camera.

The handset will retail for RMB 399.

China Unicom has not commented on the matter.
