China to Support Fresh Food E-Commerce

Ebrun.com, 9/04/13

Gao Hucheng, head of China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), has revealed that the MOFCOM has partnered with a number of major Chinese ministries to study consumer stimulus strategies, and has resolved to provide major support to China's fresh food shipping and logistics industry.

According to Gao, e-commerce and consumer credit will drive consumer spending in the second half of 2013. MOFCOM is currently researching discounted loans and subsidies, development of food product wholesale markets, and establishment of a refrigerated food products supply chain, among other strategies, to promote the development of the fresh foods e-commerce industry in China.
