Lenovo Launches High-End Smartphone Brand 'Vibe'

Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer Lenovo (0992.HK) has announced the global release of a high-end handset sub-brand, Lenovo Vibe. The company has also unveiled its new Vibe X smartphone.

The Vibe X operates on an Android 4.2 system, offering a 5-inch 1080p touchscreen, and 1.5GHz quad core processor. The handset comes equipped with 2GB RAM + 16GB ROM, 13 megapixel rear-facing and 5 megapixel front-facing cameras, and a 2,000 mAh battery. The handset will be made available for purchase on October 20 at a price of RMB 2,899.

Liu Jun, senior VP at Lenovo, has stated that the company is taking aim at competitors including Samsung and Apple with its new Vibe brand, and hopes to compete in the high-end handset market at prices above USD 400.
