Rumor: Xiaomi, Changhong to Partner on TV, Handset Markets

An industry source has revealed that Lei Jun, CEO and Chairman of Beijing-based Android handset developer Xiaomi, is currently in private talks with Zhao Yong, Chairman of Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer Changhong (600839.SH), regarding an entry into the TV and living room appliances market.

According to the source, Xiaomi wants to release more products in the TV market, while Changhong's weakest sector in terms of industry chain is its handset business. In a potential cooperation, Changhong would seek to take advantage of Xiaomi's user marketing and software strengths, with the two companies to cooperate in hardware.
