Alibaba Establishes Automobile Business Unit

Chinese e-commerce conglomerate Alibaba Group (NYSE: BABA) recently announced that it has established an automobile business unit to be led by Wang Li, former general manager of Alibaba's group buy site Taobao Juhuasuan.

Alibaba has set up cooperative relationships with nearly 50 major car companies across the world, including BMW and Land Rover, and has integrated a network of nearly 10,000 comprehensive auto dealerships and 20,000 auto maintenance shops. Alibaba's automobile business will combine big data with auto financing to provide one-stop O2O services for customers to choose a car, buy a car, and book repairs and maintenance.
