Xiaomi, Real Estate Developer Partner on Smart Home Prototype

Beijing-based Android device maker Xiaomi and Fujian-based real estate developer Zhenro Group have jointly announced that they have begun trials of a prototype smart home in Suzhou.
Zhenro provided the structure, while Xiaomi provided the router for the core smart equipment.
Xiaomi's marketing head for smart homes, Li Qi, said that due to the nature of real estate marketing, they wanted to be able to give customers an opportunity to get an early look at the smart home prototype, and that Xiaomi will enter into agreements with real estate firms so as to integrate its smart technology into homes during construction.
Xiaomi VP for technology Thomas Tang said Xiaomi has already partnered with 10 real estate firms, and will also research and develop O2O community services.
