Food Ordering Platform Ele.me Completes USD 630 Mln Series F

Shanghai-based Rajax Information Technology, operator of online food ordering platform Ele.me, has completed USD 630 mln Series F funding led by CITIC Private Equity Funds Management and Beijing Hualian Group Investment. Existing shareholders Tencent (0700.HK), JD.com (Nasdaq: JD), and Sequoia Capital participated in the deal, alongside new investors China Media Capital and Gopher Asset Management. The transaction values the company in excess of USD 3 bln.
As of July this year, Ele.me employed over 10,000 staff, is available in more than 260 cities, has almost 40 mln users, and sees daily transactions exceeding RMB 60 mln. At least 98% of orders come from the company's mobile app.
China's online food delivery market totaled RMB 3.52 bln in July 2015, completing 127 mln orders, according to Chinese market research firm Analysys.
