Shenzhen-based smart home product developer Grandland Intelligent Technology has released a smart home product called "TuringCat" featuring a central control deck that comes with smart power sockets, sensors and handles. The product is priced at RMB 19,999 and presales are currently available via the firm's official website.
TuringCat's sensors can detect light levels, temperature, air quality and infrared signals, allowing it to adjust home appliances such as the air conditioners. The central control deck can be used as an infrared remote control to operate devices, and also set up timers to turn smart power sockets on and off, thereby controlling devices such as the TV or a kettle. The smart door knob can be used as a door intercom, and can activate predetermined "house modes," affecting all connected smart devices.
The system is controlled using a mobile app or via a public account on Tencent's (0700.HK) WeChat mobile messaging app. Other apps such as Tencent's QQ mobile messaging app can be used to run video and audio for the door intercom.
TuringCat is able to integrate with a residential compound's digital building management system, allowing users to call the elevator, pre-book car parking and receive notifications from building management. It can also integrate with health platforms, contributing sensor information to electronic medical records and assist in monitoring conditions affecting chronic health issues.
Grandland has also released APIs for smart household manufacturers, and TuringCat is compatible with 95% of smart household products available on the market.
