Daily Orders on Bike Sharing App Ofo Exceed 10 Mln
Sina Tech, 3/21/17
Ofo, the mobile bicycle-sharing app operated by Beijing-based Bikelock Technology, announced recently that it has exceeded 10 mln total daily orders. Ofo has also released a three-speed bicycle in Singapore produced by well-known Chinese bicycle manufacturer Shanghai Phoenix Bicycle.
Ofo currently operates a network of over 2.2 mln bicycles within China, covering 43 cities nationwide, with over 30 mln users and over 400 mln total rides provided. Aside from development in the domestic market, the company is also entering overseas markets.
Ofo's decision to issue the three-speed bicycles in Singapore was due to the region's hilly terrain and the bike's ability to adapt to various road conditions. Going forward, Ofo's Singapore branch will operate the overseas version of the app and its variable speed bikes. Initial plans call for a deployment of several thousand of the new bikes, with more to be added in the future contingent upon demand.
A spokesperson for Ofo said that a version of the new bike may be released in China in the future.
