STMicroelectronics Starts Construction of Shenzhen Factory

One of the world's largest semiconductor manufacturers, STMicroelectronics, has marked the beginning of construction of a new factory in Shenzhen with a formal foundation-laying ceremony.

Once completed, this project will be the company's second largest packaging and testing factory.

Earlier, STMicroelectronics' President and CEO, Carlo Bazuochi, revealed that STMicroelectronics had invested USD 500 mln in the project.

Previously, STMicroelectronics has teamed up with the South Korea's Hynix Semiconductors to build a front-end memory chip plant in Wuxi. The company also has design centers in Shanghai and Shenzhen.
