Tuesday, during the 2007 GSM Asian Mobile Awards, Softbank President Masayoshi Son stated that the company is negotiating with Alibaba and planning to set up a Japanese joint venture company to expand into the Japanese market. Son said that Softbank will hold a majority of the JV shares, but other contract details have not been finalized.
