China Netcom Bets Big on ICT

Sohu IT, 11/16/07

According to an informed source at China Netcom (NYSE: CN; 0906.HK), the company has decided to invest tens of billions of yuan in developing Information Communication Technology (ICT) services as part of its reorientation as a "broadband communications and multimedia services provider." Netcom executives are, in the continuing absence of a mobile operator's license, pinning their hopes on ICT.

In the coming years Netcom's products and solutions will focus on ICT convergence systems for different client groups, divided into two lines - services, and procurement and sales. These will include a range of products, including integrated systems, application and software development services and sales and leasing of third party products.
