NDRC Supports Panda PDP Project

According to the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) website, China Electronics Corporation (CEC) subsidiary Panda Electronics Group has received RMB 20 mln of funding from China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) for its project to achieve production of 120,000 50-inch shadow mask plasma display panels (SM-PDP) per year. The project is part of SASAC's 2007 National New-type Flat Panel Industrialization Projects list.

The project is actually operated by Panda Electronics Group subsidiary Nanjing Huaxian High-Tech, and is both China's first proprietary SM-PDP production line and the first stage of Huaxian's SM-PDP production facility. Total investment is RMB 222 mln. Trial operation started this month, with production of 1366 x 768 resolution panels due to start by the end of the year.
