China Satcom, Sinosat Combine Resources

China Satcom and Sinosat have combined their satellite broadcasting resources and formed a new JV company, China Direct Satellite Broadcasting.

Currently Chinese satellite broadcasts covers all of China and most of Europe and Asia. As of the end of last year, it had 34 satellite uplinks; 1,500 relay stations; 53 transmitters on 10 satellites; and broadcast 242 TV and 199 radio channels. Of these, 6 transmitters on 4 satellites broadcast globally.

China's satellite-based public communications network uses thirteen satellite transmitters. Private networks are also developing well.
