Although Chinese national MP3 and MP4 standards have not yet been released, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Video Industry Association (CVIA) Hao Yabin revealed at the Aigo MP5 Festival that the CVIA is to work with firms such as Huaqi (Aigo) to develop an MP5 standard.
MP5 portable media players were launched first by Aigo in January this year, featuring streaming from networks and no need to re-encode downloaded files. Follow-up research is aiming at downloads via digital TV, GPS and Wi-Fi.
