China's Broadband User Base Reaches 122 mln

Speaking at the 2008 China Telecom Group Working Meeting, Vice-Minister for the Information Industry Jiang Yaoping has said that 60% of China's Internet users are on broadband connections, with 122 million broadband subscribers nationwide - more than any other country.

According to China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) one third of new broadband signups came from rural areas in 2007.
