Guangdong Mobile Raises GPRS Fees

Sina Tech, 12/29/07

Guangdong Mobile is to raise its GPRS tariffs from January 3 for GoTone, Shenzhouxing and M-Zone users. The 100MB package will increase from RMB 5 to RMB 15, the 300MB package from RMB 20 to RMB 40, and the 500MB package from RMB 50 to RMB 80.

The higher tariffs will apply only to new GPRS activations, with existing subscribers to continue being charged the previous rate. No reason was given for the adjustment.

As of March 2007 China had 39 million active WAP users, one quarter of them in Guangdong.
