CMMB Satellite Launch Delayed

Sohu IT, 1/11/08

An informed source has disclosed that the launch of CMMB satellite CMMB-STAR, originally scheduled for this June, has been postponed. Reasons for the change in launch date have not been made public but this may mean that CMMB will only be able to use its terrestrial networks to provide Olympic mobile phone TV service during the Summer Games. The source explained, "CMMB plans to use S-band satellite signals to achieve integrated coverage and nationwide roaming. The launch delay will have a direct effect on its nationwide roaming service."
