Government to Regulate Online Mapping in 2008

China's State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping recently published a list of key work items for 2008, including the drafting of 'Suggestions on Increasing the Supervision and Management of Mapping and Geographical Information Websites'. A coalition of relevant governmental departments will engage in a program aimed at reorganizing websites offering online maps and geographical data, and strengthening oversight and management of foreign entities or individuals carrying out surveying and mapping in China.
