Rumor: UUMe to Exit Online Video Space

Marbridge Consulting, 1/29/08

An insider at social networking site UUMe recently told Marbridge that the site would discontinue its online video service before the end of 2008. UUMe is one of several entertainment, news, content distribution, and community sites operated by Oak Pacific Interactive. Other popular sites under the company include Mop, DoNews, and Xiaonei.

Marbridge believes that tighter regulations, higher bandwidth costs, and potential competition from China's fixed-line telecom operators will drive significant consolidation of China's online video industry in 2008.
