20 China Mobile Provincial Subsidiaries Affected by Snow

A China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) official has said that low temperatures, blizzards and ice storms have led to power shortages and a knock-on effect on base-station operation. The number of provinces affected has now increased from 14 to 20, with 28,000 base stations suffering from a lack of power. 169,000 trips have been made to ensure communications, with emergency repair vehicles dispatched 78,000 times and emergency power supplied on 143,000 occasions, consuming 4.2 mln liters of fuel. Communications have been restored at 17,000 base stations.
