China Mobile Launches E-Business Trial in Hunan

The State Council Informatization Office has launched a mobile e-business trial in Hunan. Between 2008 and 2010, China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) will invest RMB 10.8 bln in mobile communications infrastructure in villages and towns in the province, and an electronic commerce park is to be established in Changsha.

Services to be provided will include mobile transactions, mobile agricultural e-commerce, mobile public transport payments and mobile payment of utility bills.

Hunan has launched mobile bank cards, mobile payments and mobile lottery purchases, mobile stored value smart cards ("yikatong"), along with electronic registration for medical consultations and mobile business services.
